I searched Body Shop Forum for how to remove front fender of 71 Chevelle (I need to replace door hinge bolts and re-align door) but cannot find instructions or references to the right book. Is it easy to remove and reinstall front fender? If so, please advise. There have got to be hidden surprises that await this novice. Thanks very much.

"hidden surprises" maybe a broken windshield if you're not careful since the hood hinge is bolted to the fender.
Someone I know took off a fender and the back corner of the hood broke the windshield being secured only on one side.
Remember where all the shims go and put them back where they were.

Thanks Dean. I just opened my Haynes Manual and learned that I have to remove almost half the car to get the front fender off. I'm going to look at this very carefully. I'm tempted to try replacing the hinge pins with the fender on first.

Don't cry if you see some nasty rust behind the fender brace on body near door. Thats a weak spot on these cars. Don't ask how I know...

Unbolt the door, replace hinge pins and bushings, bolt door back on.
Much easier then removing a fender.
