Does anyone have suggestions for removing spray paint from glass? Whoever primered my car with spray cans (great choice, buddy) got some serious overspray on some of the windows. I would like to remove it. I've heard that very fine steel wool and paint thinner works, but I want to run that by you guys and also get any other suggestions that have worked for you in the past. Thanks!

Try using a razor blade to scrape off the paint. It won't remove all the paint, but should get a lot of it off. Just stay clear of the seals.

Razor blades work great, but you can also use lacquer thinner or acetone with out problems. there is a product called barkeepers friend, its a powder and you use it with a sponge and water, you can get it at the grocery market, its a non abrasive product so it wont scratch. Dont use comet! That will scratch. I saw it on tv on one of the car shows.

You could also use aircraft stripper but be real careful with it. A razor blade is tough with spray paint.

A fresh single edged razor blade in a razor blade scraper. Very carefully so a corner of the blade doesn't catch, dig in, and scratch. Original Bon Ami cleanser powder used gently won't scratch glass; works good. Rinse it off with copious quantities of clear water. AJax and Comet will scratch. Paint stripper will inevitably get on some part of your painted surface and...

Forty years in collision repair have given me the opportunity to remove a LOT of overspray on glass. Careful use of razor blade & ooo or oooo steel wool works wonders. If you are careful you will not damage glass. Karl

I havn't tried it yet, but i've heard that the clay bars made for smoothing paint finishes will remove overspray.

The steel wool seems to be working really well, it takes it all off and polishes the glass slightly at the same time. I used a little bit of razor around some of the edges, but the windows are finally clear. Thanks guys!
