BigFred66 Jul 15th, 06, 6:49 PM Hi All! I've got a line on a '67 SS. Stats that I've found out so far...

TR750 R-R

Engine stuff ...Blk.cast...3955272..T0213JH ='69 L78??
Carb.............List 4490 (052)3972120 = '70 LT1 Auto 780cfm??
Intake.........appears to be L78 alum.job(Winters snowflake)did not record #.
Trans. ..........Muncie 4spd. (what am I looking for to ID??)
Rear..............12 bolt...to dirty to get #'s.
General stuff....body on this car appears to be in very good/excellent shape,
might be a little"schmoo" in the bottom left qtr.,floors(underneath)are pretty clean, frame 2/3 excellent, underside of trunk floor, gas tank/straps,rear of frame have a slight amount of scaley rust...might clean up pretty well w/pressure washer. Lots of cobwebs underneath.
Has factory gauge pk.but no factory tach.No p/s or p/brk.Upholstery,nice,may be factory.Has repro h/liner,door panels, carpet although, the carpet(red) has a nasty black stain under the pedals which I am assuming is the master cyl.leaking out the back or the line to the oil gauge broke.
Has a dime sized stone "star" in windshield.
I believe all exterior trim is factory.(nice shape,no pits!)Bumpers too!
Has been painted once, last time I saw this car was 1991(or therabouts)had
original paint/interior at that time.(my recollection of it then is..."decent".)
Same owner since Sept.1979.Odometer shows 27,100...claims its original.
I have been acquainted with the owner since 1989-90...I am inclined to believe him but I don't think it can be documented.
Price he gave me "off the cuff"was $15k. Opinions please!:)
Buckets/console too!
davisrus Jul 15th, 06, 9:03 PM I would say 15k is a good price with 27,100 original miles. I was suprised to see the value of my 64 Elcamino at over 16k when it got wrecked in April.
Bomber '67 Jul 15th, 06, 9:58 PM Fred, if you like it buy it. I'm sure that if you check out things like the completed listings on eBay etc., that you can see that price is in range. Does the vin# does support it being an SS? Pics would help a lot if you want a Team Chevelle evaluation.
There is a disconnect between the number of old cars claimed to be ultra low original mileage, and the cars that actually are ultra low mileage. The car you are looking at has a lot of non-original parts, so really the mileage claim needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Think about it: the car is 39 years old, 27 of those with the same owner. Except for immaculate museum pieces, the idea that a car of this description has largely sat out the last 4 decades is unbelievable. In this case immaculate museum piece it is not - there is some evidence that it has been driven to its potential.
Have fun, I hope you get it if you want it.

freshayr Jul 16th, 06, 7:44 AM 15k sounds like a good price to me if it is what you say it is. R U saying it is numbers matching?
BigFred66 Jul 16th, 06, 9:30 AM Fresh......not w/engine that decodes as 1969!:) Holley carb is in nice shape but not the right one.
As I stated above, looking for info on trans.identification.
SSpete67 Jul 18th, 06, 6:11 AM I bought my matching motor 1967 SS with power steering, Gauge Package, 4 speed with consol, Blinker tach, Tilt Column, Posi Rear End and Disk brakes from the 2nd owner. I found it in North Carolina and I would say it was in Good to Excellent condtion, Fresh 30 over rebuild, New Paint and interior, I bought it for $16K, It even included the original bill of sale. My point it that they are out there and if you just put a little more time into it you'll find them I personally would pay $15K for it only because its not a matching motor car. I would see if he would knock off a little more, Show Cash, Money usually talk when its dangling in thier face, The guy I bought mine from originally wanted $22k for it.

I think your buy was an exception to the rule. These cars are going up in price everyday. It's almost rare to see and real SS cars in under $20K anymore. Sounds like you got an awesome deal.

How long ago did you buy it?
Rich...saw the picture of that Aztec Bronze '66 you have posted on the other thread last nite. From what one can see,it looks nice!
Thank you for your input!:)

Trans ID is fairly easy. Check http://www.chevellestuff.com/generic/muncie.htm for casting # ID and stamped information.
LS6-M22 Jul 19th, 06, 12:19 AM Great info Dale but there is an incorrect statement in your muncie page:"The M22 was only produced in a close ratio version. It would not have been sold with a 3.55 or higher (lower numerically) rear end ratio unless it has been changed by an owner somewhere along the line.
That statement is false as the standard rear for the 70 LS6 was 3.31 and the M22 was the only 4-speed available
BigFred66 Jul 19th, 06, 7:56 AM Thanks Dale...will be seeing this car again today.(hopefully)Going to try to get trans/rear IDs.
