Had my Elky painted 3 weeks ago...silver metalic base with 3 coats of clear. When can I wax the vehicle? Do I use new car wax or any regular wax..?
P.S. I have a heated garage (60+ degrees) but the weather in Minnesota is still 30-40 degree range.
Thx,

I would wait at least three mounths before any type of sealer(wax)on your new paint. For wax I would recommend the perma plate system. you might need to go to a car dealership of even a body shop. I use it at work and on my own car stuff works great.

Wait a month or 2 more. If it's stating in the garage anyway, why get ancy with the waxing. Save the energy for cleaning the wheels and chrome and such. Detail the rest of the vehicle. If you just have to put something on it you can use the 3M glazes and swirl removers. But I would still wait a month at least. That new paint is still curing. You don't want chemicals getting in that new paint. Some really weird sh%$ can happen later down the road. I've seen it, done it been there, and know better now from hard luck. Been painting now for 16 years and know when to not muck with the paint. That glossy look is just killin ya aint it. It still gets to me when I finish off a car. Good Luck RandyB..

All those guys are right, I've been to a lot of different classes and talked to a lot of paint guys, and all of them have told me not to wash or put wax on the car for at least a couple of months. One of my teachers told me that he would never use wax he would just take the time to wet sand it again and then buff it out. Instead of waxing.
