In the early days of SEMA, you could register at the door with little more than a business card. Needless to say, me and my friends had business cards made up that categorically could be suitable for all of the really desireable conventions; SEMA, CES, COMDEX, ETC... Back then a good choice was something car stereo related, that way it still would work for the Consumer Electronics Show.

I am pretty sure that everything is pre-registration these days. If you are willing to pay the fees and can supply the required paperwork, it shouldn't be all that hard to get credentials. There are so many vendors, as well as, visitors, they couldn't possibly verify every one. If that fails, there's always the press pass route for some obscure fictional automotive publication.

Another idea, never tried this, but it certainly seems feasible. Use the name of a previous vendor that you are certain has gone out of business. Just hope that you don't pick one that still owes them money.

Worth a try anyway.
