In verifying authenticity of an SS, all numbers including frame seem to match, but VIN plate on door does not have star shaped rivets. What's up? Thanks

my 67ss is the same. every thing matches.the cowl tag was never removed.frame numbers match.I was thinking the same.why round rivits?I was thinking when the car was stripped for paint.the vin tag was removed,and reinstalled with round rivits.I guess It could be many different things but I have lots of clues my car is a ss.cowl tag matches orig paint color,those extra frame peices, all embelem holes are clean(almost as punched)and so on n so on.hell I dont know hope this helps a little big daddy.67rat member #199

My 69 has round rivits on the vin plate. I am the second owner and I know it was never removed.

I'm not sure what you're looking at but the star part is on the bottom which can only be seen if the dash pad is removed.

if it really bothers you buy new ones they are available in hemmings
