Hey any of you S. Cali guys know where I can get higher octane gas? I have the Long Beach Airport by me, but I don't think they'll let me fuel my Chevelle there. Anything higher than 91 would be great!

I have wondered the same thing and I don't think so. I think its against our crappy C.A.R.B laws to sell more than 91 at a station. I know my parts guy sells race gas and thats about it.

I haven't bought Avgas from L.B. airport in a number of years ... they remodeled the place that sells the fuel ... it used to be called airport assocate's fuel .... even then they wouldn't fill a car its against the tax Laws..... but they used to sell it to aircraft owners in cans ...

I know of a gas station near Pomona (if it's still there) that sells something around 100 octane, but that is too far to drive to get that. What is race gas rated at?

Do you happen to be one of those aircraft owners? ;)

Do you know if it's an actual fueling station or do they only sell it in pails/drums?

do a station check as there is a few union 76 stations in calif that still sell 100 octane at the pumps i beleave there is 3 of the in your area still selling 100 octane from the pump. if not call the main storage warehouse i used to get my union 76 110 octane from the main warehouse here in sacramento years ago for 225 a barrel with no barrel deposit. of course it may cost a lil more now. the other option you have is 5 gallon cans from bike shops or call your local trick or vp fuel rep it should be in your phone book.

With the cost of gas, you can get 110 for close to premium around here in a 55 gallon drum. (4.25 or so).

The Uncal station in Redondo Beach In Riviera Village did sell 100 octane a few years age. Moved out of the area or I would check for you. It's at PCH and PV Drive West if I remember correctly.

Call up the off road motorcycle shops near you. I've found C12, C14, and C16 in 5 gallon cans in the better off road m/c shops.

I've thought about buying 5 gallon cans, but I don't have anywhere to store it. I moved from where I was living so I don't have a garage anymore, and gasoline is NOT going to be stored in my apartment. So I have no other choice but a pump.

It's not close to LB, but the '76 station on Chapman in Orange, east of Main St sells VP 101 and 110 octane
at the 'pump'.

Also another '76 station in Fullerton near the airport sells 100 octane at the pump. I can't remember their cross streets.

Tell him you want some of those Meth makin', cookin' supplies so you can fuel your car up with the GOOD, "high-test", stuff!!

I bet he will come back in 30 minutes and you will be able to buy a 55 gallon drum of the GOOD STUFF!!

Yep, that's where it's at! I just happen to drive by there, and I seen the sign, "Race fuel sold here".

Do you happen to know how much 100 octane is?

look in the yellow pages for fuel suppliers or try the airport fuel depo. the deal with buying AV gas at the pump is that they are not charging you the DOT tax on it therefore it is illegal to run on the road. this is why they won't let you pump it into your tank.however most places are happy to let you put it into cans for "aircraft" use. just be sure that if you have EFI that you run UNLEADED.
