Wow, this is harder than I expected. Of course I have never done any body work, welding or even cutting metal. BUT I wanted to let you know that the full trunk pan I am using does fit. It goes all the way to the back seat. I think it is actually a pan for a GTO. So I have to cut the back, the part close to the lock off. It cuts off about 8-10 inches from the new pan and then the rear panel fits right in.

Okay this is what I did. There is probably a better way.
1. I cut off the rackets holding gas tank and dropped then moved tank. I am afraid of fire.

2. I used a 4 1/2 " angle grinder and cut out the trunk and the rear panel. I only cut out rear panel because mine was messed up.

3. Then I did some touch up work because I kind of butchered things.

4. I got to use a plasma cutter to cut the new pan. That thing is very cool. No pun intended.

5. Then I threw the pan in to see if it fits. It does.

6. Now I got distracted and started replacing bushings and cleaning everything I can reach.

7. Next step is just welding it in.

I took photos but still can't figure out how to use the site one of you guys told me to use to post pictures. If anyone wants photos send me an email. I do know how to attach things.

I wouldn't consider it a distraction you absolutely want to change things while the trunk is out, unless you were to take the body off the frame.

I love your restore photos. Gave me great idea for fixing my trunk pan.
