I have my entire wiring harness torn apart on my car trying to find my turn signal short. Im taking the steering column apart now, and Im down to the switch. The actual switch itself is out, but the wires are still connected and go deep into the column. I can't get that metal sleeve off the column to go down farther, and im not sure if I'm supposed to. the whole column is moving free from the steering now, which doesnt seem right to me. Where do I go from here?

I assume that you have a 1968 vehicle. Unbolt the capsule bracket from the steering column. You should then be able to release the metal trough and allow the turn signal switch wires to pass up and out of the steering column.
This paper might help:

Well here is the situation. After 10 hours I got the switch changed. Well, it didn't help. It no longer pops fuses, but it flashes very quickly, and both it illuminates both the blinkers and parking/tail lights. I uncovered the entire harness, looked for shorts, and couldn't find any. Im at a loss here.

Curious how can you tell that the taillights and parking lights are blinking along with the turn signals?
I mean since they are dimmer than the turn signals it seems like it would be hard to tell when the brighter filaments are blinking at the same time.

They arnt blinking with them, they just light up as if the parking lights were on.

Since you have everything exposed:

Measure the yellow wire to ground on the turn signal switch connector. This should be done when the left direction is selected.

Do you see a swinging voltage nearing 12 volts? Do you hear the flasher can working? If so, is your left rear light flashing?
