I remember hearing something about SS's having an extra body mount compared to a malibu. Is this correct? If it is then is it worth adding to my malibu, i'll be doing a lot of 1/4 mile racing with it and originality is not a concern. Where is the extra mount?
thanks,

To answer this, you should go to the service manual or assembly manual for your SPECIFIC year of car. It seems to change every year.
I'm pretty sure that isn't true, having replaced all the mounts on mine. All (SS and Malibu) convertibles have an extra mount on each side near the firewall.

The frame is the same as far as the bushings for all but the convertable. The Malibu just did not get the bushing over the rear axle. All the kits I have seen provide this extra bushing. In the suspension thread I have several threads on bushings and frame replacement so try a search using Redrum and bushings or inserts and frame. Been there done that and I had fun doing it too.......

Maybe you mean the upper to lower control arm frame support? But this is not a body mount.

usually it's the elcaminos and convertibles that have the extra body mount.

In restoring my Monte, I found that the extra body mounts are for Big Blocks, not just SS http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Look in your Factory Assembly Manual, it covers this issue in great detail.
