I have a 65 Chevelle SS and find that the rear of the door is hanging down about 1/4 of an inch. The window doesn't meet the drip moulding in the back and the door doesn't shut all the way. I also notice the top of the door sits down from the top of the back 1/4 window.
Obviously the body man didn't align it up very well.
Is there a way to align the door without taking off the fender? It looks like I might be able to remove the bolts from the hinge to the door and perhaps get a shim in there. Is that how it's done?
Thanks for any help.

just loosen the bolts attaching the hinge to the door and try adjusting it without using a shim. if you need a shim then just cut one out of sheetmetal and notch it so it will slide around the bolts. this i how i did my 68, its probably the same with yours.

What sape is you hinge in ?When you open the door half way can you lift up by the door handle andmove it you and down B-4 moveing the body? if that is tha case you must rebuild or by new door hinges, B-4 you attemp to adjust the door.
If the car is finished painted you my want to take it back to the body shop for this
Because removeing hinges require special tool with the fender on and with there experience minimize possoble paint finnish damage in the repair process

If its not an alignment problem and the hinge is bad it will probably be the upper.
I have been able to remove the hinges with the fender on. I open the door most or all the way then block it up at the outer end with a floor jack or wooden block. This should give you access to the hinge, scribe around the hinge so it can go back exactly where it came off. Bushings are available at most gm dealerships. There are 2 sizes
of bushings but their cheap enough where you can buy both sizes. All the hinges iv seen
take 2 bushings.

I'm having the same problem right now...
My door sat about 1/4" lower at the top rear edge. when i adjusted it back up i had problems getting the door to fully shut. i tried to adjust the striker bolt, but i still can't get it to shut all the way. one time it's tight but not all the way shut and then i adjust the striker and it's too loose. i tried this several times and i still can't get it to work right. what's the proper way to adjust the striker to get the door to shut properly. thanks....

First of all you need to take the striker off, then take the bolt & maybe shimms out of the bottom of your fender just in front of door, pull the fender away so you can get a wood block in to hold it open so you can get a socket into the hinge area, you will need a long extension 18"-24" also will need two people to do this job, or a door hanger, then adjust door for fit, remember the striker must be removed while adjusting door.
If you can't do that then you need to pay someone.
Good luck.

If it's not a worn hinge, front to rear adjustment is done by loosening the bolts that attach to hinges to the body, not the door to hinge bolts.
