I'm ordering the POR trunk kit. The spatter paint which I have used in the past seems to run when it gets wet with water, thus, requiring a clear coat to prevent this. Is there a spatter paint for trunks which does not require a clear coat to prevent this?

Zoletone will do the trick. It use to be available at NAPA stores, not sure if it still is. Check with your neighborhood body shop supply store.

My NAPA store carries it, BUT, it requires a gun and I need something in an aerosol can.
They also have the Dupli Color brand, but I think that it is water soluable and requires a clear coat on top.

I think you will find you can buy the zolatone in an aerosol type container with a reusable spray attatchment ......... this product not as cheap as the usual aerosol spatter paints.

You can buy aerosol sprayers that you fill yourself with your own paint. They cost about $5, and most bodyshop/paint supply places have them. I used one for small parts off the car. The one that I used had a precharged cartridge that screws to a glass jar. Worked great.PREVAL was the brand name.
I tried one of those that you charge yourself with air pressure and it didn't work so good, so shy away from those.

Zolatone is too thick to go thru a Preval sprayer, which is a handy item to have anyway :D

Why don't you just use the stuff and put a clear coat on it like it says. It all comes in an aersol, and is easy to use.
