Purchased a replacement floorpan, right rear pass compartment, for my Elky. This pan has HUGE reliefs cut out at the rear corners down to the actual floor. Is this typical? Looks like I'm going to have a heck of a time filling these in.
I bought this pan from a company that had there name on tanks made in WWII.

That name would not be PANZER would it ?
as for the reliefs. I ASSUME, you are talking about the corners. Where the bottom floor and the sides meet the back.
I have not used the Panzer pans myself but
in replacing floor pans in the past. I have cut pie slices in the area, I think we are talking about. to fit the radius and lay flat on all sides, in the fitting process.
I have never seen pre cut pans B-4. on the contrary. it has always been cut and POUND to fit !!!

Philip, I have gotten floor pans of both types (with and without the cuts). Filling the cuts is a real PITA. The ones without the cuts are much easier. I think the cuts are there to ease the forming of the pan during manufacturing, but it sure doesn't help the installation.

Thanks guys since I've already paid for these Panzer pans http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif I'll try 'em out It would have been nice to have been forwarned about this from the MFG though.
Has anyone used the heat barrier putty from eastwood ? is it worth it for doing the floorpan?
I wont be able to do the whole weld job in one day 1.)because I'm slow 2.)because I'm not a proffessional welder 3.) because I have to work at night.
Any more tips out there?

Just one tip I'm positive you've thought about already. Ensure all glass is covered with a fireresistant blanket or material prior to cutting out your old pan. If your using a cutoff wheel, the metal particles will embed themselves. Careful of that fuel line! Have a bucket of water at the ready. Have fun and take your time. Hey that was way more than one tip! T.A.
