I'm looking to replace the rear springs and shocks on my 73 SS and much to my dismay, the repair manual says the control arms and the brake lines need to be disconnected. Has anyone done rear springs on a 73-77 A-body and if so, what did you do?

only shocks need to be removed from diff then push down on tire spring should come out

Yup,unbolt the lower shock mount, use a little muscle and the spring comes right out.Use the tallest jack stands under the frame that you have as the 73/77 rear springs are slightly longer than the earlier years.
