: What color for my 70?

I need some opinions on a color choice for my 70, the body work is about done and I need to start edging in some color, but I'm stumped on which one! It was origionaly forest green which looked good, but the jambs need painted anyway so a color change would be no more work. I was dead set on Hugger Orange, but sprayed some base coat on the side (with the old quarter and door) and now I'm not sure? I think I just stared at it to long. Maybe Garnet Red, maybe silver? Well, any opinions on what looks good on a 70 would be apreciated. Sorry so long, thanks in advance Jim

There is Definately 100 % without a doubt only ONE color for a bad a$$ Chevelle... BLACK! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif I don't think you can beat a black Chevelle, and with it being a '70 throw some white stripes on there man and you're set! My '68 is black with a non-polished Centerline Auto Drags , OHHHH YEAHHHHH is all I can say http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif The only other set-up I have seen that I did like was also on another '68 of course http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif and it was Copper with a black vinyl top, kinda hard to picture but unique and it looked really good, if I can afford another '68 I will go Copper. I have seen that A LOT of guys like blue, my truck is a deep blue, awesome color but I don't like it on hot rods, too many blue hot rods, and too me it just seems like a "cruiser color" Hope I was of some help and gave you some ideas.

It really depends on what you want. If you want a head turner try like a House Of Color's Kandy Orange or Lemon Twist. If you are looking for a sleek color try Triple black or Silver with a Platnum pearle. Kandies and Pearls set a car off. Its all up to your taste.

Go with Panther Pink. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Actually, if I had a 70, I'd go with Fathom Green with white stripes. I love that color! Good luck with whatever color you choose.

hold on, hold on. How good is your body work? If you go with black and there are imperfections you will see them all. I would suggest silver with a light spectle. If the body isn't dead nuts perfect the light spekle would help. Also bad ass is definately silver with black racing stripes!!!

Ive always loved the forrest green that originally came on the 70 chevelle along with fathom blue. My car is painted a 98 dodge truck color dont know the code but it is deep amythest pearl. Its a dark bluish purple. My next 70 will be the silver that is on the new dodge rams.

Just like black, silver is a bad color if your body isnt straight. Although it wont show all the body flaws like black, it shows the paint flwas. Every piece of dirt every fish eye will show up in silver. Zebra stripes or metallic stripes can be a big issue with silver too.

Iam not a fan of hugger orange at all but you are set on a orange hue, house of kolor does have some pretty neat shades of orange.

A lot of the '70 colors were pretty cool, Forest Green, Fathom Blue, Tuxedo Black, Cortez Silver. I bought mine black, even though coded Fathom Blue, and am in the same dilema. The green and blue are good and not seen all that often. The silver with black stripes is very cool. I agree with 68chevelleguy on the black, with the stripes it is righteous!! the body must be arrow straight for it though. The choice is yours, and though this doesn't help all that much, maybe you can get some info from everyones input. Let us know the decision. Brad

Thanks for all the replys guys! That is crazy that you mentioned Kandy Orange, my other car is painted PPG Orange Glow. It was a ton of work, but it is all worth it when the sun comes out and people start squinting! I did consider black and all the panels save for the roof are brand new Goodmark, but even then it worrys me, plus this car is just a driver and black is so hard to maintain. My dad says green with white stripes, and a mechanic here is stuck on blue. I have sprayed silver before, yes its tricky, but there are 2 silver 70's locally already so I don't know. Well thanks again for the input, I think I'll narrow it down pretty soon. After all any color will look better than primer! Jim

check out 70' or 71' code 55 "champagne Gold" in the "Paint Codes" on this site. I am painting my 71' this color with Black SS stripes and it looks great. The color looks much better than the color chip shows

Depending on interior color, I personally like the Astro blue/bright GM blue with the black stripes. Silver/black is a good second choice. Do a search for pic's, they are out there and worth looking at, gives one a good idea on the finished look.

Check out my site if you want to see a Different silver on a 70 www.angelfire.com/ky2/mycars (http://www.angelfire.com/ky2/mycars)
I hate to see more silver 70's out there but hey here it goes.
It's 98 cadillac moonstone metallic
It's between cortez and the darker silver offered on the 70.
The metallics in this new color can be seen from 25 feet on a sunny day, I get comments on it all the time.
Theres also a mont on my site that has a blinding red, so check it out.
