I think that's the term used for painting door jambs, etc before assembly.

1. When I spray the jambs, etc., do I apply the clear also? I guess I was concerned about overspray from the actual paint job getting on the clear from the cutting...is this even an issue?

2. Can I use a good quality mini hvlp gravity feed gun for cutting in? It's apparent that my $14 Harbor Freight gun  isn't even good for shooting primer (leaves a VERY rough surface).

My plan was to cut in the door jambs, paint the inside of the doors, paint the hinges seperate, then mount the doors. Do I hit the jambs again after they are mounted to cover the hing bolts correctly?

Thanks in advance! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You do clear the jambs just like the outside. DO NOT allow the over spray to go out on the outer panels! The edge of the over spray can lift when spraying the outside. You want to mask off the outside along the edge of the jamb. By the way the common term for this procedure of painting the jambs is "Jambing".

Thanks for the info. I have just noticed a lot of pictures of parts that have been cut in or jambed and the overspray is very apparent on the outside of the panel. I will mask off the best I can I guess.

Will a mini-hvlp gravity feed gun work for this type of spraying? I don't plan on painting the car myself, just as much prep work as I can. Will this mini gravity feed gun spray practically upside down?? I had a fit with my cheepo siphon feed and wasn't able to primer the bottoms of my rockers. Any advise on that?? Thanks again.
