Number 6 is guzzling oil. Those who have experience, is it better to run 5/64" or 1/16" rings on the street? Also, is there any reason to run the Zero Gap rings (are they truly worth the massive price they charge)? I need this rebuild to last a very long time (well, as long as can be expected with a little hot rodding!). I am probably going to go with either the Speed Pro coated skirt or the Mahle coated forged pistons. One more thing.... Does anyone have any experience with the new one piece oil pan gasket for the older small blocks? I would like to give it a try, but if it has been troublesome, then I will use the dang cork stuff. Any help/info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the ring size question you had ,,I have a 430+HP SB with stock rings with a moly top ring. I would think for you stock rings are fine,,Speed Pro coated skirt are great. The oil pan,,,I have a 84' SB has the 4 piece fel-pro and it works great. Hope this helps
