I just bought a 67 chevelle. The past owner has it lifted 2 inches. running 15 inch rims with SUV tires. I am going to correct this by bringing it back to stock height. But I will need to have rims and tires all ready as the SUV tires will not fit back on the car. I would like to go with the widest rear tire i can fit with out any mods. was thinking a craiger ss rim. any ideas i would love to hear them thanks

Check the database listing in this forum for the combos - but first, please post a picture or a link to a picture of your '67 with SUV tires. This I need to see - are they all terrain radials?

If you use a 15x8 Cragar SS wheels, they have a 4 and 1/4 inch backspacing I believe. The largest 60 series tire that will fit is the 255 60. If also can stuff a 275 60 under there, BUT depending on the car and its chassis, IT WILL BE A CLOSE FIT. Probably will only be able to fit a pinky finger between the fender and the tire.
If you get 4 1/2 inch backspacing on the rear wheels you should have no problem a tall with a 275 60 tire
I believe on the front, a 4 and 1/8 inch backspace would be OK for a 15x7 wheel and a 235 60 15 tire.
Not sure if a 15x8 wheel and 4 and 1/2 backspacing on the front will clear the tie rods.
Hope this helps.

I currently have a 265/65/15 rear BFG drag radial on the back of my 67' Chevelle with a 15x8 Cragar S/S wheel with a 4 1/2'' backspace. The tire is about 3/4'' from the fender lip and 3/4'' from the frame/inner fender...looks great! Rear is also currently at stock height.

4 inches. You can get them custom made though.
