Poorboys, Zaino, NXT on occasion as its easy and quick but does not hold up very well.

I really like the poorboys line, though.

Mother's pure carnauba liquid wax. Show car shine and long lasting protection, what more could you want. Have the show awards to back it up. Don't overlook detailing, use a clay bar and polish, seal and glaze prior to waxing if you want the paint to look its best.

Really no right or wrong answer to this, any brand of wax is better than no wax on the car at all, but I don't see any benefit to paying twice as much for other waxes that don't last as long or shine as much. Obviously helps to have a nice paint job to start with too.

So far I have only used Meguiar's Gold Class and it doesn't seem to last long. Just looking for something a little longer lasting.

Hello all, I run a detail/repair center have tried all types of wax. On my Chevelle & all my high end customers cars get Zaino only! It is a polishing system, the more coats applied the deeper & wetter it looks.

Gents...a more general question. I drive my 66' more than I show (actually never shown ) . It never sees rain ( or gets washed ). I use a Maguier spray polish to remove any road grime / bug guts after a ride. Lightly dust with Cal brush when needed. Is always stored in a dry garage. I'm more concerned about protection from road debris while driving. Does a Polish provide any protection from road debris, or would a wax be a better choice for my lifestyle ? I've used Mothers wax for years on the daily drivers, with good results. These 5 step approaches look like overkill for a guy that just wants to cruise on the weekends, but protect the finish. I'd rather be driving than buffing. If I'm more concerned about protection than that Show "wet look"... what's a good all-around approach to maintenance ... Polish..then Wax... no Wax ???

Heres my routine. Car sees no rain, only washed if a bad road trip, which is next to never. Car is waxed with Meguier NXT. After driving the car, is wiped with a cal brush and covered with dustless cover from Calif. car covers. When needed , car is wiped down with Meguiers final inspection. When needed, waxed again. If needed, it gets the clay job maybe once or twice a year. All my other cars are treated the same way, even the daily drivers, but need washing more often..

What I have is a super crappy paint job.. sorry.. I didn't have it done.. bought it that way, But I need to make the most of it, at least for now till the pocket recovers a little.. :o I need something to clean it, then hide as many imperfections as possible. I don't know a whole lot about waxes, glazes, etc so any advice would be appreciated.

Cal Car brush : http://www.properautocare.com/cal-dust.html

Clay: http://www.superiorcarcare.net/inclean.html

The Clay: A special clay bought from Pep Boys , autozone, etc. (about 10 to 16 $$) usually in the wax and polish area. Used with a spray type detailer. You spray the detailer (lite soap and water will work too) than rub the clay evenly over the paint, a section at a time, folding and fltening the clay for your next section. Must be wet to use clay or clay will stick. Than you wipe off with a clean towel. Paint will be as smooth as glass. Than you rewax and your paint will look awesome.

Even a bad paint will look better doing a clay job than wax..

The Chevelle gets nothing (paint has been dead for years and neglecting it only adds to the sleeper factor) but my cars with nice paint get Zaino. I've used it for years now; easy to work with, super shiny, and lasts a long, long time.

And as was mentioned, clay is a must.

My wife hit her 2003 SS Montycarlo with the hose end and scrached the clear coat use Zaino system there is still an imperfection if you know where to look. The shine is so deep it is almost impossible to see. and no swirls .

the new turtle wax ICE is really cool, used some 3m swirl remover to clean the trash and swirls out of the paint, then wiped on some of this ICE and it looked awesome

then it rained, none of the other waxes has ever cause so much beading of water, now i just need to see how long it holds up

For you Guys who have streak problems when using any wax /polish, heres what I found. #1, one time I ran into this problem and I than Clayed the paint and it solved the problem. #2, Let the wax/polish dry on paint, than wipe off. ...........Works for me !!!

Mothers in the can or Kit in a bottle. Both are caranuba waxes.

I've used a wide variety of waxes and polishes over the years and nothing compares to 3M in my opinion. 2 step process has worked great for me. Perfect It foam pad with the Perfect It polish and then Perfect It liquid wax. Wipe any excess with a terry cloth towel. You won't find a swirl mark on the car when you're done.
