Im looking for the best way to remove the body from the frame of my 66SS. Im not sure of the best way to lift the body from the frame and what to support it on. Im in a regular garage with limited space. Possible dollies, 55 gal drums, or what??

There have been a number of posts on this site over the last couple of years that deal with this subject. I even remember one that included detailed pictures. They may not be for the same year as your car but the process is the same. Look for members that have websites as they usually have pictures of their restorations or try doing searches on this site, especially on the "closed" 'Chevelle Tech' and 'Chevelle Tech 2000' forums. Good luck.

Just an idea. I have used 2 chain hoists attached to the beams of the ceiling http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/scanned/243_ass_rpl_fl_ln.jpg

I did mine this way. Raised the front with an engine crane with 2 chains hooked into holes near the front mount on each side. Got body up about 2 feet. put a 9 foot 4 x 4 across on 2 pails and shimmed it up with wood. Moved crane to rear. Raised it by hooking into the tail lite holes. My body is not really that heavy (65 chevelle). Then blocked it up using pails and a 4x4. Moved back to the front and raised it a bit more. Then let air out of all tires to lower the frame and rolled frame out from under the body. Worked okay with me and my 9 year old son. I suggest you put rims on the wheels instead of flattening tires, as you will get it a bit ower and it will roll out easier. Above worked for me.
