I have yet to hear of anybody really happy with repro bumpers. Are your old ones useable? I sent mine to Tri-City plating ... they look great and they will straighten anything not to spec.

Tri-City rechromed and straightend my rear bumper. It is perfect! I bought a reproduction for the front. That was a mistake, it is ok but in hind sight I would have found a good core and had Tri-City rechrome it or bought a rechromed original from them. In fact I will be replacing the front within the next year or so. The repro chrome just doesn't shine like the Tri-City chrome does. Scott

If I go the recrome route can they fix a dent or flat spot like 4"x3"and still look great or do they just straighten out of shape bumpers?

I need to add my 2 cents; I just purchased a front and rear el camino (1970) bumpers from National Parts Depot. I installed them over the weekend and they look and fit great. I happened to weight the new front bumper to the original “dented” front and it weighs the same. So can I assume the material thickness is the same? I think! I priced straightening and re-chroming the old originals and it would have been $210 each (here in El Paso, TX.) NPD was cheaper and only a 4 day delivery time vs El Paso chrome shop lead time of 6 weeks. I think I choose the best option to buy them new. Oh, anyone want to buy used, original bumpers?
