Hey guys - the white in my SS emblems on the front side panels are flaking off. Are they painted on and if so...how do I repaint them? Some one said they might be vinyl but since they are crackin I don't think so.

They are painted. Mine were getting ugly also so I painted them. Spent a lot of time with masking tape and cutting it with exacto knife to expose onlt the flat area and spray painted them. When you go to remove the tape make sure you scribe around the edge of the flat area or you won't get a nice clean edge. Good luck, it's not hard, just take time.

You can also use a white paint marker if you have a steady hand. It may take a couple of coats, allowing sufficent drying time between coats.The best way is to remove them from the fender and spray paint them as described by Bill. Jim

EXACT-o-LY use a knife and sit around watchin H.P.T.V. by the time an hour and a half rolls around you will be ready to paint em. Its my story.....and I'm stickin to it ;)

If you can get them off the fenders, you can also strip them with paint remover. Then set them flat and thin down some white "One Shot" paint and put a drop of paint in the resessed areas and it will flow out and fill the emblem. Just about any paint will work here.

Like 67shovel said, but I'll add to that. Go to a woodworking supply or any place that sells syringes. Thin the desired paint, then use the syringe to spread the paint. Like 67 says, it will flow and look very nice.

I've done it this way and it's really cool and quick.

Thanks guys! Great ideas all!! Took the emblems off the car today and will work on them this weekend. Easy to get the paint off them, fell right out. Have them soaking now in some great detergent to get them clean and will see how steady my hand is ;)
