I wet sanded a scratch out of my 66 today and
made that nice dull spot in the paint.

It is a white car so your can't really see it, but i can. I saw a show on TNN (that truck show i think) and they wet sanded a hood and then used something to bring back the shine. Can't remember what they used.

I was hoping someone here could steer me to the proper product, whatever has been found to work well.

thanks.

Could you have sanded through the clear coat?
More likely though is that you just need to polish out that spot. It should blend in and be unnoticable. I think after sanding with about 1500- 2000 grit sand paper you could use a product like 3M's Finesse It (I am 100% sure I butchered the name) with a foam pad on an electric polisher (or just do it by hand). Some of the best advice comes from the guys at the paint supply store.

I hope you didn't sand it with anything rougher than 1500 grit. If so, wet sand with that first, then buff with 3M Microfinishing compound on a wool pad. Then polish with 3M Finesse It II on a foam pad. Make sure your pads are clean and buff at slow speed, about 1000-1800 rpm.
