I just purchased a new set of hi jackers for my 71 chevelle.They are completely compressed.Do I have to put air to them to get them to extend to install them ? I dont want to start pulling on them if I dont know.I figured I would ask the smartest car guys around.

Just extend them by hand. If you put air to them they will pop to full length pretty hard. I would install the top first & then pull them down but it really doesn't matter. You won't find many fans of air shocks here, most guys will think you are crazy for putting them on. Happy 4th.
