i have a Rochester 4GC carb from my 66 283 El Camino. I was rebuild andrestored about 1 1/2 years ago. I olny got the car running this past winter. The carb boggs when hitting the throttle If iI shut it of and come back awhile later it takes awhile to start. I think its draining gas into carb flooding it. And last I have had 3x so far I jumped on the gas and the throttle gets stuck. I can't find where it is binding. I have a pretty strong return spring on it. Does anyone have any suggestion? The guy that rebuild it has since passed. I hope I don't have to get it rebuild again and if so who is the best to do it. Thanks, Bob K.

Bob...the bogging sounds more like too much air for the fuel available.
Float level too low??Poor "shot" from accelerator pump??
With engine off, remove air filter assembly, hold choke plate open with one hand and push the throttle lever back quickly a couple of times. You should be able to see a good "shot" of gas from the discharge nozzles. If not...something is amiss.Float level too low...not allowing enough gas into the bowl of the carb AND the accelerator pump well?Accelerator pump piston not adjusted/installed correctly?
While you're checking the pump discharge, make sure that your accelerator linkage is not adjusted as to where it is pulling the primary throttle
plates past vertical ...if it IS opening them past vertical, that's your sticking throttle.(scarey too!)
If you need to adjust the linkage,(engine off still!)disconnect it from the carb, have a helper "floor" the accelerator pedal, now you pull back the throttle lever on the carb so that throttle plates are NOT ANY farther open than vertical, your throttle rod is threaded on the end towards the firewall(or SHOULD be:) ) turn it counter clockwise 'til it lines up with correct mounting hole on throttle lever.
