I've decided to paint my 69SS its' original colour of Cortez Silver. My car has black interior. Although the black side stripe seems to be the logical choice, I was considering the red. Has anyone ever seen this combo, and was it even offered from the factory? There is a black 69 L89 Chevelle in the current issue of Musclecar Review with the red side stripe that got me to thinking about it for my car.
And not to sound rude, but I'm not looking for " It's your car, do what you want " replies. I'd like some honest opinions.
Thanks gang.

If it were mine I would stick with the black stripes, If you are looking for red accent go with red line tires.

If it's a true SS and you are using original colors Go with the black stripe.. If it's not original or it didn't originally have a side stripe why don't you try something like the red? Or a lighter/darker silver stripe to blend in to make that subliminal statement?

My car is an original SS, however, my build sheet doesn't specify the side stripe.

Well Dan, I think you would be very disappointed if you put on a red stripe, even with some matching redline tires.
I love Cortez Silver and think the three choices would be black, black or black.
Just my $.02 worth.

I agree with Don. Black is the only way to go. I have a '69 that is Cortez Silver with Black Interior and Black Vinyl Top. The stripe is black. I can't imagine anything else that would look right.

Definitly black. Ask Bottlerat for pics, he painted his car recently, it looks SWEET.
The '69 Chevelle Dealer Features and Specs Manual shows the SS396 side stripe option with Cortez Silver to be black with the following exceptions: RED with a red interior, white with a white convertible top or Parchment vinyl top. So your correct color is black.
