The question I would pose is, do you think you'll be doing more restoration projects? If so then you can justify purchasing the tools to do it yourself. Shop labor includes expendable materials (weld wire, electric, equipment up keep, etc.) You can buy the tools necessary. Maybe you have a friend that could loan them to you.

Regarding the body sections you have listed, you'll have to provide more detail of what needs to be done. Fenders, hood, the things that bolt on are easily replaced, with simple tools. Quarters, floors, filler panel take some detailed explanation. I started with no sheetmetal experience and now as an novice, I can install floors, quarters, etc. I have never tackled a roof replacement, yet!

well the front end is all wrong year (car is a 70 w/72 nose) I know that the roof is not avalible, I will have to rehabilitate that, but the quarters are the real problem. Heck I might be able to get away with patch panels, (I did some homework last night) The unusual thing is that the rocker panels are perfect! fenders are gone, floors are great. Also I found on the right side in the car, rust on dash mounting points. That cant be good

Patch panels can be very time consuming, and difficult to make look right. It's worth it to spend the extra money for a full piece. Especially if you are having a shop work on it at big $$$ per hour.

Ahh Soo.

Avoid the Patch panles, and go for the gold 'eh? $650 for the full quarters, and $325 for the fenders. OUCH!

Anyone know where I can get less expensive panels at? NPD, Ground UP(SS396com), and Impala Bobs are all within 25 bucks of each other.

Not to mention that the hood is 300 and the interior has to be completly replaced.

Mabey I will get a 3rd or 4th gen TA/Z28 and drop this moster in the garbage.

Oh I will transpplant the 454 into the other car first!

The quality panels you want are from Goodmark. Check their site (www.goodmarkindustries.com) for a dealer near you. I was lucky enough to find two close to me. They were cheaper, and there was no shipping changes. They even delivered them to my body shop for me at no charge.

The labor to install these should go down considerably with these replacement panels. When done, you will have a rust free car that will only appreciate in value. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
