Does anyone work on Hondas? The dealership wants $80 just to hook up their fancy machines and read the codes.
The problem is...the SRS light stays illuminated constantly on our 2001 Accord EX. The other light (side air bag) would previously illuminate if some item was blocking the bag. Now, even if an item is placed there on purpose, that light will no longer light up. However, the SRS light is on constantly.
Is there anything simple I can check/test? I really hate to spend a bunch of dough at the dealer. Thanks
Brian

That car is OBDII and should be able to be read by even your local parts store. You can at least get the code numbers and do some reasearch on your own from there.

The SRS light can't be read by a normal parts store code reader. We can only read CEL's, not anything with airbag or ABS lights.

Oh I see now. I read that too quick. SRS light. Yea, that usually requires an actual scan tool to get into the that system. Im afraid even though im a mechanic. I dont have a lot of expierence with the system in those cars.
