I am having my '67 Elky stripped and repainted this winter and am beginning to assemble parts to be replaced. I need a grille and the "eyebrow" extensions. Anyone purchased repros that were good quality or have a good source to check?
TIA
John

I think most of the resellers use the same suppliers. The only parts I've found to watch are the extensions. Sometimes they don't meet up with the top of the fender properly. Grille and headlight bezels I've never had a problem with. Of course, the prices are a bit steep but it's a one-year fit.

Check with Ground Up, Year One, Ausley's, OPG, Goodmark Industries, etc and especially their shipping charges...those will get you sometimes.

John,
I went thru exactly the same process with my Elky last winter. Bought a repro SS grill but was lucky enough to find NOS extensions ($$). The grill fit was OK but VERY SHARP edges! Be careful.
A little tip...I used the original style solid head rivets to install my grill but not having the correct tool to set the rivets, I used small speed nut type clips to hold the rivets tight. Can't be seen and works great.

I bought a repro SS grille this summer at Maplegrove Super Chevy! It looks decent from 20 feet away, but up close you can see the quality on the bars just isn't there!! There are sharp/rough edges and obviously very little surface prep before they anodize them. Also the black paint is extremely easy to scrap off and poorly masked off. Oh! did I forget to mention the holes dont line-up very well. I was also told that there is only one (oversea's) manufacturer for these grilles. I purchased "fake" solid top rivets with the threaded studs and nuts through one of the Impala parts houses. Sorry I can't remember the name. I can e-mail a pic of the car with the new grille if you would like!! Mike, M22

Thanks all. Sounds like I only have one maker to choose from. Interesting since the vendor price varies by $40!! Bill - nice elky. DO you know if they came with the SS hood on BB? I have seen a ton of them, and mine has it too. Had one guy tell me it was a 'Big Block' hood and lotsa 67s had them. Just wondering since my info is that the SS model Elky wasnt made until 68.

I replaced the grill on my Elky last year and found the repros fit very well. As far as the "eye brows", I figure you mean the grill extensions. They (at least the last time I looked) were available through GM. The headlight bezels are only available reproduction and they too fit very well.
