I am in the process of finding a side remote mirror for my 70 Chevelle. Course, I know what part number to ask for, but I need to know what the mirror looks like and what the interior plate looks like. If anyone has one on the car and a digital camera I appreciate some pics.

Hey DG, look at my web page, my car has one and you may be able to see it. If not write back and I will take and post one, I cannot remember if I have a good pic where you can see it or not. My interior plate is not off of a Chevelle, it is 45* from the door panel, while the origional is 90* to the door panel.

Bill, thanks, your pics show the mirror well enuff from the outside.

So the difference on a 70 Mirror, rather than a 71-72 Chevelle is that the remote lever points rearward, while the 71-72 points straight out from the door? I know Year One does not stock the 70 inner piece, but they do the 71-72 inner piece.

I looked at one mirror and there appears to be a copper button at the point where the mirror swivels. Hmmmm.

Sorry about that DG I thought I already fixed that, but I guess not. It should work now, but I dont think I have a pic as good as BillTSS70. If you need one I can take a pic and post it for you. My door panal had a hole for it but where it was I had to have the 45* lever if I didnt want to cut the door. I think I pulled off of a late 70s olds.

Hate to muddy the water but my original 71 has the remote at 45 deg to the doors.

I used one from a 71 on my 70 and it was also angled back. On my 70 there was even a clip on the front inside edge of the door to hold the cable out of the way of the window. Do they all have it? Or did I just get lucky.

One more thing, The original drivers side mirror fit perfectly on the passengers side. Why do they list them as right and lefts in the catalog?

They all come with it.
While wer'e on the subject,on my 72 I just changed my mirror from chrome remote to the painted sport mirror, with remote.
The problem I'm having is the bezel that the knob goes into on the door panel is different for a sport mirror.The knob does not fit in my original bezel.
If anyone has one, I need one.

70-72 Chevelle's and Monte's with the chrome remote mirror all used the same bezel, the knob angles back at a 45, it has a set screw on the bottom of the bezel to hold the knob. The painted sport mirrors used a bezel that the knob comes out at 90 degrees, this bezel has a horseshoe looking clip on the back to hold the knob in place, this bezel also has 2 screws that hold it in place, this is the one places like Year One sell.

Yeah, I know the one you're talking about, My 72 monte has the one I need, that's how i found out there were 2 different ones.
