So I just got got the pinion yoke sleeved at Randys the other day, and I'm just checking out a couple of thing's. It's a 72 12-bolt, with 3:73" and a Eaton posi.

1) When I turn the wheels forward, it spins easy, but when I spin them in reverse, it feels like there is alot of drag.

2) with the wheels off, I can move the axle up and down, about a 16th of an inch, is this too much play?

3) while at Randy's I got one of those covers that have the carrier bearing support stud's, How much torque do you put on the studs?

Thank's, Dave.

the rear cover support studs have very little torque applied to them, i think i remember the instructions calling for only 10-15 inch/pounds.

the rear axle gears do not have straight teeth so it does take more effort to turn the pinion in different directions, should take around 25 inch/pounds of effort to turn the pinion gear.

do your axle seals leak fluid, are the axles worn were the bearing rides on the end of the axle? check these things out while servicing your rear-end.

My TA performance cover instruction said max 5 foot/lbs. If you over torqeu it you can destroy the main caps.
