How do I find out which year engines inter-change for a 89 Blazer? I need a 4.3, some years say they have a balance shaft (what ever that is). Do I need to find an 89 engine or how can I find out what years inter-change.

I havent really looked that close at the differences but I am quite certain that the lower ends are all the same engine blocks. They have changed intake manifolds through the years and im sure that resulted in differnet cylinder heads. You might be able to get by with just a short block.
