Found rust under the vinyl between rear window and trunk. Felt like broken crackers in there! The top was replaced about 5 years ago. I took the small section of vinyl off and cleaned it up. Metal is still solid. Whats the best adhesive to glue it back on?

That is the most rust-prone areas for Chevelles. Especially ones with vinyl roofs. Water gets in underneath the window trim and is trapped there. While it is trapped in there, it leaches into the vinyl and effects the metal surface underneath. Once it is dry, I usually put a thin bead of clear silicone sealer between the trim and the window to keep the water from getting in there in the first place. If you do a good job applying it, it's hardly noticible. You have to look hard to see it. I'd rather have it there than be 100% factory correct and chance it rusting again. As long as you are sure the rust is repaired, 3M has a spray-on adhesive. Spray the vinyl and the metal surface and let it dry for a few minutes. It will stick. Make sure it's where you want it because it's a one-time deal. You can get the 3M adhesive at Home Depot, Wall Mart or a body supply shop.

Thanks Jimmy. Thats a good idea on the silicone. I found the rust when I resealed the rear window. That is a deep ridge for water to sit.
