I want to convert my sweep-style dash in my 71 Chevelle SS with a 402 c.i. engine to round gauges. I know I need the dash housing, the instrument cluster housing, the lens and the gauges. Do I need the so-called printed circuit board? What else do I need to complete the job?

The printed circiut board should come with the cluster. You will also need the wiring harness. There are differences between the ones with gauges and those without.

You will need a new dash harness. The one from your sweep dash will not work. The harness for round idiot lights and harness for round guages are also different. And yes, the printed circuit boards are different as well.

Burdorf, Welcome to the best Chevelle site on the planet http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Just an FYI... posting this in interiors or electrical will make it easier for others to find answers on this subject in future searches. They won't think to look in Body shop?
Glad to see you are getting responses here though http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Personally I don't know beans about circuit board dashes. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif
Good Luck!

Also be careful if you buy a used harness for the dash. Many people will tell you 70-72 are the same. They aren't! In fact every year, 70,71 $& 72 are different. They may look the same but the wires in the fuse block are in different locations and some colors are different making a really difficult without the correct harness. I had to disassemble my fuseblock and move all the wires in it using both year wiring diagrams to compare what went where. I wish I had had known this little tidbit before!
