I'm looking for a volunteer who keeps detailed racing logs, and preferably with autotap type records of each run, environmental conditions, tuning changes, tire pressures, etc. I have a little data analysis project I want to do at work that I'd like some good data for, the more the better. Confidentiality is assured, and you might even get some improved ET's out of it, or at least some cool stuff to look at regarding your runs. The more factors you log, and the more passes you have recorded, the better. To be useful it needs to be in some electronic format that I can read on a computer like a spreadsheet or something.

PM me if you're interested.

yeah, I figured I'd look for a fellow TC member as a guinea pig first. My company makes some software that can do some pretty cool analysis and 'visualization' stuff with data, as well as predictive modeling, and I'm interested in trying to apply it to tuning a race car.
I don't have a real race car though and don't have any useful data of my own. Timeslips alone won't be useful without also having other data as well, at least not as far as tuning the car goes. Also it needs to be for a specific car to be meaningful. I'm hoping maybe someone has 2-3 seasons worth of passes recorded.

I have just what you need. The only problem is that there where some miner changes. When I had problems with the motor I got the wrong cam last year or so and ran it till I broke a valve spring. While it was apart I reordered the cam I had but they changed the lift on it. So I have some data on 3 different cams. The data includes air density, temp., humidity, O2 reading (which is not adjusted correctly), and barometer. The only problem is, its all on several years worth of time slips. So I would have to input all that on to a spread sheet. I even in the last 2 years have the tire pressure reading before and after a run. 2 years ago when I ran the same cam for 2 plus years I could go to any track, and with the Perform Air know exactly what to dial without any time runs and the car would be within .01 of that dial.
Does it matter that it not a chevelle?

that sounds like the kind of data I'm looking for! It might be a tall task though to get it entered into a computer though. The last 2 years worth with the tire pressures would probably be the most relevant. I don't car what kind of car it is...

What I want to try and do is use this software to try and predict what the ideal tuning would be for given conditions at the track based on past data, and find how different conditions/tuning affect performance for a specific car.
If I can set up the analysis, data from any car could be plugged in. The old computer adage 'garbage in, garbage out' applies though, the better the input data, the more meaningful the results.

If you're willing to enter all those slips and info and supply the data, that would be awsome! Like I said I'm not going to share specific data about your car with anyone, and if it works I might be able to give you some useful info.

Brian,
Suggest you contact Kjett.
I know Kenny keeps very thorough records and probably the most intense racer I know. With his computer background, he may even have it on a spreadsheet.
I'm sure he'd be willing to share...

I don't have anything useful, I've been making so many changes that nothing really counts. In fact it's a whole new motor in the car for this year so all the old notes mean nothing.
