Wanted to say hi to everyone. Been surfing this site for awhile, and even replied to one question, but hadn't introduced myself.

Recently purchased a '68 Malibu, 350 engine bored .40 over & new front suspension. Other than that, it's rust, rust, rust.

In the body shop now (going on 6 weeks)replacing full floor pans, patch in trunk pan, both fenders, both quarters. They seem to be doing a good job. Hood, trunk doors removed; everything stripped to bare metal and coming back up.

Trying to decide between black cherry and black sapphire paint. Any input would be appreciated. I should say this car, even when complete will not be '68 correct restoration. I'm just restoring it to what my wife and I will like. It's going to be an "ice cream cone getter" for her and myself.

Not much of wrench head, but am mechanically capable other than engine work. Plan on doing most of the interior work myself.

Anyhow, I appreciate the forum and the knowledge base you guys represent. Let me know what you think of the paint.

Thanks.

Welcome to the world of Chevelles. graemlins/waving.gif

One of the things that most agree upon is that it's your car and therefore should be what makes you happy. Just don't advertise it as something it's not, i.e. a SS if it's a clone. Some people really get thier panties in a knot over it.

Enjoy your car. Just don't punch the gas when the wife has her cone to her face! tongue.gif

Thanks everyone. As far as advertising it as an SS, I'm not an expert, but I believe there's too many telltale giveways that it's not, especially by people that know what they're looking at.

I'm undecided on putting SS emblems on it though. I believe for that year it had to be a 396 to be an actual SS. Not sure anyone sticks the SS396 emblems on a 350 car.
