Gentlemen, what is the proper way to go about replacing the transmission mount under a 1969 Chevelle with Powerglide. I am particularly wondering if it can be done without slackening or removing the tranmission support crossmember. Thanks R. B.

You can replace the transmission mount without moving or loosening the cross member. Unbolt the mount from the cross member. Then, jack up the transmission slightly (1/2" should do it). Unbolt the mount from the transmission and bolt on the new mount. Remove the jack and bolt the mount to the cross member. If you jack up the transmission under the pan, use a wood block to protect the pan from denting or puncturing. This is an easy job that can be done in under 1 hour.
