Could someone please tell me the best way to separate the quarterpanel from the roof on a 1969 Chevelle?

First locate the lead at the roof and quarter seam. It will be a different color then the rest of the surrounding metal. Then take a torch on very low heat and melt out the lead. With the lead out you will see the seam and the many spot welds. First take a 1/8 drill bit and drill a pilot hole in the middle of the spot weld but dont go all the way through. Then take a spot weld remover drill bit looks like tiny hole saw, and using a low speed cut through the roof and quarter panel layers but not through the last layer of metal. More then likey will need some prying with a small screwdriver to bust apart the weld use caution. The welds along the rain gutter are best removed by taking a high speed cut off wheel and grinding down the spot welds. Then remove the welds along the back under the backglass. Once the quarter is off clean up the areas that the spot welds once were making sure no burrs are present.
