I'm replacing the body bushings on my 68 SS this weekend & hit a snag. The bolt on the left front of the body, the one in the front of the footbox, won't come out. It acts like the captured nut in the body has come loose, and I can't get the bolt out. It's loose, & turns easily, but won't come out. I've tried cocking the bolt and using a bent screwdriver to pull down on it while I turn, but the @%&!* thing won't let go. Will I have to get a saw & cut a hole in the body from the inside to get access to the nut or does anyone have a better idea? I'm going to eat lunch now & try to get in a better humor. TIA for any help. graemlins/angry.gif

You can get to the nut by removing the fender. Not sure if theres an easier way, but my front clip was off before I started removing body bolts.

Thanks. My brain works better with nourishment. I pulled the inner fender back & was able to get to it. A little more work, but not a major PIA.

Got_CID is right, you almost have to remove the fender. I think it requires a 1" open end wrench since it is a square nut, but it can be done. You may need a little torch action and lots of liquid wrench!

Drop the inner fender, get a socket or wrench on it, mabe some liquid wrench, use an impact sand it should either come out or break...then replace the bolt and nut...if you have extras...or search some of the boneyards out west or south, and see if you can get a few sent to you....I have found many rust free ones this way.
