I have a 72 Chevelle with a power brake booster, but I don't have enough vacuum for it to run correct. I don't want to install an electric vacume pump as I heard they are noisy. Would like to install the hydro boost system on my 72 Chevelle, but very expensive. I spent enough on the chrome booster and master cylinder. Would the hydraulic booster by Cardone part # 527248 seen on the partsamerica.com site work? If it does, what if anything extra would have to be done to make it fit? I can get one for $107.00 This is much less than other systems that I have seen.

That seems like a really good deal! If anyone has installed one of these units, please reply back and let us know how they work, or any particular drawbacks.

IIRC, you could MAKE that one work. I think i requires mods to the bracket and the rod that attaches to the pedal. I had brought up the same question a while back.

I'm currently in the process of putting the finishing touches on a Do it yourself Hydroboost on my 67.The most difficult part of this do it yourself project so far has been fabricating a bracket to mount the unit to the firewall using existing firewall mounting studs. Heres what I've used and current cost of project so far is @ $278.00. Unit from a 2003 3/4 ton GMC cost was $50.00 from auto dismantler. Had to cut to rod end and rethread to 3/8-24 to allow use of stock pedal actuator bracket. Aeroquip High pressure steel braid lines with hose ends $113.00. Hydroboost, Power steering pump and steering box inverted flare fittings to #6 AN $36.00. Aluminum plate machined to mount booster to firewall $10 in materials and @ 3 hrs on a lathe maching it(pain in the ##** trying to figure it out and studying a picture of the bracket from hydratech, They wouldn't sell the bracket only and I don't blame them) 1 1/8 bore master cylinder (new) $69.00. I'm still not quite finished with the install but I hope to complete by this weekend with out spending much more $$.
Hope this helps

there is a local place that makes hydraulic hoses, what size hoses would I need to use?

Keep us posted. I'm very interested in how your setup works. I was thinking of starting my own DIY kit, I am just not at that point in my build yet.

I used the Areoquip -6 high pressure hose with the reusable ends. It has to be the high pressure hose. You can cut the hose to the desired length and install the hose ends yourself. I am currently at the point to begin cutting to length and installing the high pressure lines. If you are interested, I can get you the part numbers of what I purchased, I can even give you the supplier.
