Sure the VIN isn't 45635L160352? That would be 1964, 5635 is a Malibu 4-door wagon (3-seat), L indicates Van Nuys, CA., production sequence with 1st car being 100001 - making this the 60,352nd 1964 Chevelle from Van Nuys.

Trim tag - assuming 1964
Trim 709 - Med. Saddle Imitation Leather (available in the 5635 series/model
936 - Paint code of Ermine White (solid body color)
ACC - Accessory Groups
G - Power Tailgate [RPO A33] (group 1 although not identified as such)
2 - Group 2
M - Powerglide Transmission [RPO M35]
3 - Group 3
G - don't find a 'G' coded option in group 3. Could it be the letter 'C'? That's pretty standard for a padded dash in 1964.

Dale, Thank you much. It is a 64 chevelle wagon 4 door. What is the difference between a 300 wagon and a malibu wagon? Is there any way to tell what engine belongs in it?

A 64 300 wagon is a less expensive body style and trim optioned - both exterior and interior trim. There were 2 different 300 wagons, 45315/45415 and these were the 2-dr wagon where the 4-door are 45335/45435. The Malibu wagons were series/model 45535/45536 for the 4-dr 2-seat and 45545/45645 for the 4-dr 3-seat. I goofed on my previous reply, 45635 is the 2-seat wagon.

Unfortuantely the VIN only indicates whether it was a V8 or 6-cyl and won't tell which one. Being it was originally a V8 as noted in the VIN, the base engine would have been the 283-2bbl (195hp) with the RPO L77 283-4bbl (220hp), RPO L30 327-4bbl (250hp), and RPO L74 327-4bbl (300hp) as optional. I'm not sure just when the 327s were introduced into the 64 Chevelle line-up but I'm sure a 64-guru here would know.

283 195 and 220 hp 2-bolt main bearing block. 3782870 would probably be the 327 block in 64 although numerous castings were used in 327s Z(and 283s) from 62 to 67.
