: Need help rear trailing arm removal

well im new to these forums i recently left elcaminocentral.com for there lack of knowledge on anything well heres the situation i have a 1966 el camino with a bent rear trailing arm on the drivers side ( the wheel sticks out on this side also) well i picked up a parts car 1966 el camino for 100 bucks and today i tried to take the rear trailing arm out and this thing just wouldnt budge have any of you been in a simular situation and can help me out i have to try to wrestle that thing out tommorow

Are you having trouble getting the bolts out? You can usually drive them out with a large punch (assuming you've already got the nut off the bolt).

yea it seems like there is a lot of weight on those bolts i jacked up the differential to take the weight off the arms do i have to support the frame too?

Stop right there. If you are supporting the vehicle by the axle while trying to remove the control arm don't go near it again until you support the vehicle by the frame. You can support the axle separately, but you need to support the weight of the vehicle itself by the frame first.

Wow that was a close one.....one more smack with a hammer and the car would have come down crashing.

thanks for your help guys with the help of you guys and a 5 foot pipe and a lot of wd-40 i got that bad boy out :-)
