Can anyone recommend a set of HEI ignition wires that will run along the valve covers through a horizontal loom and drop onto the spark plugs that look like a custom fit?

This is for a street vehicle with a SB 350 with headers.

Just about any universal set can be made to fit any way you'd like.

Thanks Rich. By universal, I think you mean that you cut them to your own length, right? If so, is it difficult to crimp on the connectors?

Thanks,

Ed

It's pretty simple. There are tools special made to crimp these type of connectors but I've never used one since they are kind of pricey for a tool you'll likely only ever use once or twice. I've done a number of wire sets with a typical garden variety all-purpose crimping tool and have always had good results. You have to take your time and crimp them carefully and they will turn out fine.

Also, pick up some spray silicone grease for getting the terminals through the plug boot.

I have moroso universals on mine, first time ever doing that for me. Piece of cake. Like Rich, I also used a regular ol' wire crimping tool.

Oh, and most universal wire sets come with a full set of regular and HEI style ends so you can make the wires up for whichever style you need.

Make sure they are "Spiral Core" wires. I like Taylor, Accell and Moroso.

Always go universal or custom wire sets. Never fails - 7 fit great & the 1 bites you on the azz....

:beers: Thanks to everyone for their input. Universal set it is. I've had my eye on the Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm wires, so that does it.

You can get a crimping tool at NAPA for a couple of bucks.

Make sure they are "Spiral Core" wires. Yes. "Spiral core" is what you want. i read somewhere that using "Solid Core" wires will ruin ignition components, although I'm not sure why that is. So I always stay away from "Solid Core" plug wires.

I love making my own wires up using the universal sets, it's kinda a show off thing to have a nice tight set of wires. It just likks me to see a pretty engine with all the flashy blingy stuff and a set of plug wires that loop around the hood hindges. But if anyone insist Moroso does make pre cut wires that work with their loom kits, they will have a loom set up like you are looking for and a set of wires to work with them. Its in their catalog.

I used a set of Accell custom wires. I think they came with a crimp tool in the box. All you need is a bench vise and a hammer!!!!!!!!!

I bought a set of $30 crimpers and did it the right way! I also used WD-40 to get the 90* boots on the wires I just crimped.
