Hi,

I have a 66 SS that I spoke with its orignal owner some time back on this same subject matter. My car is Maderia Maroon with ivory/black interior. Its trunk paint is aqua and black. I have confirmed with the cars original owner that is the factory color combo for its trunk paint. The car was built in Flint, MI with a late Feb 66 assembly date and sold on April 11, 1966.

I have seen many chevelles with the grey and white paint but have also beeen told some chevelles came with the aqua and black trunk colors.

66 was black and grey, 67 was black and aqua. I have seen several 66 cars that have black and aqua, and I always thought they were incorrect. As stated, maybe some late 66's did come with the 67 colors. If it were me, I would go with the black and aqua. Whatever you do, make sure you top coat it, otherwise water will ruin it. rb6667

Trunk splatter paint colors:
64-67 Gray & White
68-72 Black & Aqua

I used three cans I had to cover Red epoxy primer. The GM paint dosen't spatter the white very good. Maybe Zolotone brand wil if the color is the same for Gray & White.

I think it depended on the assembly plant. They used the gray and white until they ran out then switched to black and aqua. Some plants ran out before the other assembly plants.
