I am putting a hurst shifter in my 69 chevelle with console car.
The question is, Are there two different shifters offered for this car?
Meaning one for console and one without console. I ask this because the handle assm. is too far towards the driver. It is not centered in the floor tunel. This in turn gets in the way of the console. And rubs the left side of the floor tunel opening when in reverse.
Any body have an idea on this?
THANKS

The Hurst shifter for a bucket seat '69--with or without a console--should be the same, with a righthand offset that makes the stick even the centerline of the transmission. You may have the wrong shifter.

It does have the offset to the right. It is just not far enough. This is the correct part number listed for the application according to Hurst.
Also Ground up offers a kit with different part numbers for with or without console HMMMM.
My only thought was possibly the console car had an offset that was longer.
Correct me if i'm wrong but doen't the non console floor tunel center more towards the driver not centered in the floor hump?

No, a non-console 4-speed hump has the hole centered, too. I'm sure of this. In any case, it wouldn't need to be offset since the hole is so big--about 6"x6". I don't know why Ground Up would list a different shifter for non-console applications unless the difference was the shape of the stick itself. The correct shifter will line the stick up almost exactly with the centerline of the trans. What's the Hurst part # for the shifter?

This is interesting! I have another shifter. And found the other arm is actually 1/2" longer which is exactly how short the one in the car is off.
So aparently this thing was made wrong. the other shifter fits and centers perfectly.
