What is the best way to remove rust from above the door opening on the roof on a 66 Malibu. I think it's called a rain channel, but I'm not sure. The rust hasn't spread toward the center of the roof (yet). Would it be better to replace the trunk pan or use fiberglass patch kit? How difficult would this be?

I am no body man but to strip rust out of window channels,which I would say is a somewhat similar situataion,I use a 3m stripper disk chucked in a grinder.It is flexable and therefore conforms to the curved surface.There are guys here with a lot of experience and they may have better ideas.

I am always partial to using a sandblaster. I think that it would work fine in this channel.
