Hey guys, i'm building a 454 motor and i have ANOTHER question. I have a book that is a step-by-step guide but one problem, it's for rebuilding an engine. I didn't think that would change anything and then i started noticing things like (line up this with the mark before disassembly etc...

So, i have a question with the sprocket, i have the lower one on and now i need to put the upper one on and it says to face the timing mark on the sprocket towards the 6 oclock position....my timing set is new and has no timing mark. How do i position it?

Side question. Should i go with a double timing set or is a single one ok. It is a street/strip set-up.
Thank you for your time!

There should be a mark or dot on the sprocket (on each one actually).

For the small amount of additional money, use the double roller.

Cam at 6 o'clock, crank at 12 o'clock. Put cahin on, them rotate the entire assy 360* then drop the dizzy in pointing to #1 lug (both are now at 12). If you don't rotate it 360*, drop the dizzy in at the #6 lug. For some reason most books don't tell you that.

Funny, I've been here a while. Knew what "dizzy", "Eddy", "tranny", took the longest time to figure out "LOL".
