Anybody have experience with repop hood hinges? Good or bad quality? I know I would be better off getting the real GM ones to remove any doubt, but Ground Up has a special price on 65-67 repop hinges.

I don't know about the ones at Ground Up, but someone I knew used a set of repop hood hinges and had one of the hinge rivets break while opening the hood. It dented and scratched an otherwise beautiful car.

Try looking for - 66-67 Chevy II, 67-69 Camaro, or 65-67 Passenger and Chevelle. All take the same hinges, only the springs are different. I picked up a pair listed for a Camaro off eBay a couple years ago for something like $35.

Chevrolet numbers 3910667 L.H. and 668 R.H.

Yeah been trying ebay but got outbid. Have hinges on the car, just don't seem to work good. Maybe I just need to lube the hinges or replace the springs? Lube them with white lithium grease?

Don't think lubing them would do much good. If they're too stiff they may be wrong springs for hood or if too weak, wrong springs or they've just lost their tension. What year do you have (66/67) and with what hood (300 Deluxe/Malibu/SS)?

Any of the following #3848272 springs should be correct:
63-64 Chevy, Chevelle
65 Chevelle
65-66 Passenger
66-67 (S.S.)
67-69 Camaro (350,396)
70 Passenger
71 Chevelle (454)
71 Monte Carlo
72 Chevelle (S.S., Heavy Chevy)
72 Monte Carlo or El Camino Custom

Listed as 8 25/64" free length - 27 3/4" coils.

I just had a new set of GM hood hinges let loose at a rivet. Luckily I only raised the hood a few inches before it let loose.

Jyags... do yourself a favor and "spring" for the GM hinges. I had repros that were only about a year old, give out, and ended up f'ing up the paint. The GM's are noticeably better...able to open and shut with a pinky. GM's are 2 or 3x's the price..but how much now to fix my damage :-(
