I just realized that an idea I have might be a very bad one. My car is a mess and is going to need body work and sanding or stripped down to the metal. I have not told family I even have this car. I was going to show up at our annual 4th party with car painted red, white and blue using tempra or water color paint you use in grade school. I am thinking it will wash off. Are their dangers I am not smart enough to be aware of?

Gail. The only thing I can think of is the paint may stain any porous area's. But if you plan to strip it any way, I say GO FOR IT.

I'm thinking the bigger problem might be getting it to stick to the current paint.
You might want to try latex paint. (House paint) It's cheap and can be applied easily. It won't just wash off, but it should stick rather well without being too difficult to remove.
Just a suggestion, though.

So you "think" this is a good idea and a great way to break the news to family and friends? LOL
Should make the evening news at least LOL
The hard part is going to be getting your better half to let you bring it home after the Picnic LOL
Good Luck

Check out Autozone. They have that temporary paint that high school kids use to write all over their cars with. Washes off. Don't know what colors they have, but thought it might help.
