I have 17x8 4.5 backspace on my 64 with stock supension. I'm finding that the front tire is just touching the outside fender when I turn going up an incline..like a driveway but no damage.
Hind sight maybe should have had 17x7 in front or 4.75 backspace but I'm running 235/55/17 up front and may go to 235/45/17 up front.

Yep,4.75" or maybe even 5" backspace on those front 17x8's would probably cure the problem. However,a tall tire like that 235/55 is definitely not helping.

You haven't said what wheels you want to run or what backspacing.
Just my opinion but I would run a 245/40/18 on front. A 245/45/18 is 26.7" diameter, which is taller than I like on front. I try to keep front tire size in a range from 25"-26" with nothing taller.
A 275/40/18 will fit on the rear.
